Scott Newnham – Behind the scenes photoshoot

Welcome.. and i hope you can join me for this limited event..

I have been a professional photographer for nearly 20 years, shooting models. fashion, commercial and celebrity images. I have worked internationally, and shot for magazines, like Black+White and shot celebrities like Marcia Hines and Jessica Mauboy. and now its time to give back to the industry.

I will be offering my experience and knowledge to new photographers in a one day workshop, showing the ground work of shooting in fashion in a studio environment.

This is an all day event, in a full cyclorama studio in Wynnum.

This is a class for those who have a grasp of simple camera functions and want to learn studio lighting, portraiture and modelling shots, and learn how to get it right in the camera from the first click..

Areas that will be covered:

Discussions on working in the industry and making your way in a over-saturated market..

This is not a creative workshop where photoshopping the image makes the final image look good.. this is about making commercially viable images that will work for magazines, and campaigns, without the need of heavy photoshopping.. Remember some clients will want your raw images, so learn to get it right the first time!

This is a limited event. I’m a working professional photographer, not a guy that takes photos and makes money from teaching others on a regular basis.

I had the opportunity to shoot Dancer and Choregrapher, Wil Sabin, on the north coast of NSW.

Wil wanted to do something away from the dance, club style, and so we hit the beach, But alas, it wasn’t the sunniest of days! so after a bit of hanging around. the clouds moved and made the wet sand and rocks shine for the camera.

As an experienced performer, Wil was just a natural for the camera

Well as you have just read / about to read, I shot Australian Idol (2009) contestant Scott Newnham, and these are some of the behind the scenes images.

On Mothers day this year, I had the opportunity to shoot one of Australian Idol’s (2009) favourite guys – Scott Newnham, and whilst we haven’t heard too much from Scott since the end of the show, he has been working hard on his debut Album

I took this opportunity to shoot Scott in Tweed Heads (on the Border of NSW and Qld). Scott wanted to have the feel of Usher, Justin Timberlake, etc.

So we got Scott styled out in Politix clothes, and shot on location.

There will be a video / documentary to go with this shoot soon, and you will also see a posting on ‘behind the scenes’ of this shoot

Well known Brisbane Glamour Girl, and radio host on 4zzz, had contacted me to shoot some new fashion photos, for her public profile.

Whilst having been typcast as the bikini model girl, and favourite in Zoo magazine, Alix wanted to push out of those boundaries to be seen as a more serious model.

Our clothes were supplied by Drobe in Fortitude Valley, and the location was the Zoo Nighclub in the same place.

Well this was my April edition of AXN with a Cover and 8 page layout.

Michael from wearitout.com.au supplied us with all the outfits, for Kurt to wear, and made the shots all that more desirable.

Kurt is a model who some of you recognised from my Calendar “Monochrome”..

Shooting was actually done 3 weeks apart but looking at all the images you would never know!..

And i have to thank Brett and Mieke for the loan of their gorgeous house on the Sovereign Islands on the Gold Coast.

Well its been a while since posting.. and in this very cut throat industry, things have to change and move on to keep one fresh

So I have opened a new sister site, Russell Fleming Men. Its only focus is to showcase my work with Male Models, whether its Fashion, Sensual or Classic nude its all there for you to see.

The guy i shoot also have the opportunity to use RFM as a platform for their modelling careers. My aim is to make sure the guys i deal with, work with reputable clients and photographers, and steer clear of poor work and badly paid jobs..

OK If you don’t want to hang a calendar on the wall and would rather put it in a folder or use it as a monthly planner book. then we have the calendar also in book format (a4) for sale.. why did i do this? i didn’t.. i just have a lovely printer who kinda .. well… messed the first batch up, and im stuck with them!

So its the same calendar but only in a book format ( opens from the right) they are a little cheaper, at 12 bucks but only collect at this time.. if you buy both then i can post them both out to you!

I think its time to get some more work happening and printed around town

So some new work of mine will be out and about in the form of calendars

The first one will be out through QAHC (Queensland Association of Healthy Communities) 

Then i will be self publishing my work in Black and White, with some local Gold Coast Talent, and some of my best coffee table book work from previous shoots in 09
