Steven

After a few weeks of shooting. I had time to shoot Steven, moving from modelling into acting, I thought it was time to do some new shots.

I shot these images with a large Beauty Dish and a Softbox (as a fill) .. the other shot was just direct light from the Beauty Dish!

California

California is an amazing diverse place..and its not all about Hollywood Glitz. these shots were taken in the Sierra Mountains, all I have utilised is a Polarising filter to darken the already amazingly blue sky

These two shots are taken at around eight thousand feet, and as you can see the trees have trouble surviving at this height

I have always had a fascination for two types of people, Identical twins and red heads, having had the opportunity to photograph both, I wanted to share this image of a friend of mine, Digby Hogan.

I always see a beautiful side to the fair freckled skin, and the red hair, something that a lot of mainstream agencies, (modelling/Advertising/Casting) shy away from.

Digby has these amazing blue eyes, that compliment his skin tone and hair colour.  and blue being a near opposite for red this colour combination adds to the impact of his presence.

Brisbane band “The Ride”,  came into the studio today for a short photo session, where I took the chance to see just what this band really looks like.  They have a suave eclectic look, and their sounds are inspired by funk and rock.

So when I made a photo edit of their band image, I kept in mind the influences of Jimi Hendrix, / 70’s soul.

Whilst this is the bands first photoshoot, it helped that band member Billy Bishop and his brother Aiden, have both parents to thank for their looks and their ability to model, as the Bishop boys parents were former Brisbane models.

Billy is more known for his time on Channel 7’s ‘Make me a super model’ from earlier in 2009.

On my return from my next away assignment, I will be taking “The Ride” for a full shoot out on location, but for now here is their very first studio / professional shoot.

June this year, I exhibited on of my latest image series called, “A night in purgatory (its hard to live when your dead).

Exhibited at Raw Space galleries, in Brisbane, the exhibition went off successfully, and was featured in a 5 page spread in AXN Magazine, along with other publications like Qnews, and Style Magazine

The Exhibition is about a town of sinners who all had an axe to grind with someone else in the town, a night of murder and mayhem put them all into purgatory.

The images are all shot in a studio and then in post production, the images are transformed and the models are put in various locations that help tell the story.

I get asked, how long it took to do all this makeup, and most peoeple are shocked when I tell them its all done in post production.

Whilst I’m not a huge fan of overly photoshopped images, I took it upon myself to do this series and make so many changes in photoshop, to see how far i could push my abilities as a photographer, and a photo-illustrator.

A night in purgatory, has now been scheduled to show at the Brunswick Street Galleries in Fitztroy, Melbourne.  The two week showing from Septemer 25 to october 8, will hopefully capture the imagination of  Melbourne cultural scene.

I always find it interesting how the “wannabe” photographers love to discuss photography and cameras, and then turn it into a “pissing war”, where as the real photographers, they just get on with their jobs and take photos…

So is this a way to flush out the real from the hobbyists… for me it is..

Well its that time of the year where we see the current fashion collections from around Queensland, sashayed down the runway at the Coffee Club Fashion Parades, at the Ekka

Like each year we see a range of designs for women and men, from designers, like Paul Hunt, Bora, Gbrac and Daniel Alexander.

I had the opportunity to shoot the runway, however without a proper runway pit for the photographers it as a little hit and miss. I think a chair at the back row in the centre might work best.

The models on the runway this ekka season are from Vivens Model Management as always.  And just like previous years, a new face of Viviens, showcased the young hopeful girls trying for a contract with the prestigious agency.

Here are some shots from todays showing, I be shooting more this coming weekend
